Detailed description of Blackhawk Golf Club

Blackhawk Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Pflugerville, Texas.

Blackhawk Golf Course first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Charles Howard, along with three-time U.S. Women's Open champion Hollis Stacey.

Blackhawk Golf Course is a links-style course built on rolling terrain. Water hazards coming into play on twelve holes. The course has large greens and wide fairways, and almost all the holes have sand bunkers. You may only walk this course on weekdays.

#9, a 464-yard par 4 is the signature hole. It's one of the most demanding par 4's in Texas! On your tee shot, you may experience the prevailing south winds. Water down the left and across the fairway will leave you with a second shot of a long iron or wood to a green guarded by water. Having negotiated the course challenges, the best of putters will be tested by the large undulating green. Par on this hole is like making birdie anywhere else.

The Blackhawk Golf Course plays to a par-72 and a maximum distance of 7,072 yards. The course rating is 74.5 and the slope rating is 125.

The course is about a 50 minute drive from Temple but worth it to me. I enjoy the treatment I receive from the staff. Arnold Palmer Corp. course is well staffed and taken care of very well. I am a senior golfer and I pay $19.00 dollars to play 18. Along with that I get free breakfast and lunch and a choice of 2 drinks at the bar. Can you beat that?

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

There are 4 courses within 5 miles. Blackhawk is the least expensive, but it is the least on service and product. Blackhawk has recently sold to new management and is getting better conditions. They have an email special that really attracts retired and senior players, they have made it an all-you-can experience which has increased play. The problem is that with these changes the pace of play has slowed down. I used to be able to play 27 to 36 holes in 5 hours, yesterday we played 18 in just over 4 1/2 hours.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles
Bottom line: Worse than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
